Extreme lag spikes/rubberbanding, but low ping
I've played TERA twice in the past without a hitch (last time about a year ago), but yesterday when I started anew (same server as always, Killian) I started experiencing extreme lag and rubberbanding.
It appears as though my connection to the server is completely interrupted for periods of time, varying from just tenths of a second all the way up to 10+ seconds. My character freezes in whatever action he's doing at the time, unable to move, sometimes with weapon raised for a charged attack, or ready to block, etc. The same happens to enemies during the lag spike, they stop moving and just show their idle animation. When the lag stops, everything rubberbands back into place (and I end up losing a chunk of my HP, because server-side I was probably standing idle).
This happens outside of combat too. Sometimes when I talk to NPCs I have to wait several seconds for the dialog to pop up, using items, resurrecting, etc., everything ends up delayed when the lag happens, and I occasionally experience rubberbanding when moving around as well. The frequency of these spikes is quite high, in combat I can notice it happening about every 5-10 seconds. Sometimes something seems to resolve the issue and I can go completely without lag for 30 seconds or a minute, but it always returns eventually.
There are no FPS drops, the game still runs at around 80 FPS constant and whatever animation is playing for my character or the enemy at the time continues smoothly as normal. My ping remains at a constant 47-50ms, and it doesn't change even if I check before, during or directly after a lag spike.
I haven't really tested objectively, but I would say that it lags a bit more inside instances compared to the world. Whether I'm on a high or low populated channel makes no difference.
Of course this only happens with TERA, I have no lag at all in any other game, and I'm also not experiencing any connection issues when patching. My friend that I'm trying to play with is also not having any issues.
If anyone has a solution (or is experiencing the same issue) I'd love to hear about it.
