Tera | Downfall patch | Gold guide for new level 65 players
Hey everyone, Castanicly here but you can call me Cas!
I've decided to make this thread since there are no guides to help you get gold in the newest patch. Although the Ninja patch is almost around the corner, it would be helpful to show the new players who reached the level cap how to earn some good gold amounts.
Let's get to it.
I have divided gold earning into three categories:
- Vanguard & Battleground Rewards
- Boss Drops
- Crafting & Selling
NOTE: A few patches ago, the developers decided to drastically reduce the amount of gold dropped by Level 58-60 BAMs in the Northern Shara region, around cities like Kanstria, Zulfikar Fortres, Pathfinder's Post, etc. So, gold farming through BAMs was essentially removed. The BAMs now drop 2 gold each, not always, while before they dropped somewhere between 15 and 19 gold each, including a good number of Fine Cruxes which you could sell to merchants or to other players.
1. Vanguard & Battleground Rewards
This will be your primary gold income. As you know, you can complete 6 Vanguard quests a day. I put these quests into 3 different category difficulties: Normal, Intermediate and Hard (Forsaken Island Hard Mode, Dreadspire Upper Floors).
BAM quests include multiple BAMs that reward 150 Vanguard credits/quest and a fair amount of gold. But you should always aim for doing the top 3 that reward Dawnstorm Tokens, the highest level of tokens in the Island of Dawn. BAM quests reward you up to 245 gold for Onyx Hydraths, 235 gold for Iron Giants, 225 gold for Naga Battlemasters and so on down to the lowest BAMs.
Normal quests include Kalivan's Dreadnaught NM, Timescape NM, Bathysmal Rise NM and Channelworks. They are fairly easy dungeons that with good communication and teamwork pose no threat at all, these dungeons are Schisma Gear friendly.
They reward you with 240 gold when completed, as well as some Feedstock, Noctenium Infusion, Spellbind and a Master-Enigmatic Scroll, alongside 90-100 Vanguard Credits.
Intermediate quests include Forsaken Island NM, Kalivan's Dreadnaught HM, Timescape HM, Sky Cruiser Endeavor HM and Dreadspire Lower Floors. They all reward you with 280 gold, 120 Vanguard Credits, Feedstock, Noctenium Infusion, Spellbind and a Master-Enigmatic Scroll. These dungeons are a bit more difficult as they recommend Dreadnaught Gear, as Schisma can easily struggle in these.
Hard quests include Forsaken Island HM and Dreadspire Upper Floors. They are the hardest dungeons in the game and require a lot of skill, near perfect reactions and Dreadnaught gear with perfect rolls, perfect crystals and Superior Innerwear as well as a Superior Brooch with stats perfect for your class. They reward you with 320 gold for FIHM and 280 gold for Dreadspire Upper Floors.
A somewhat easy battleground reward is the Sea Chest from Corsair's Stronghold. You can get 1 a day, by completing the daily quest for CS, meaning winning a CS match. On average, you win 1 in 2 or 3 matches, so doing a few CS a day should get you that victory and that Sea Chest. Why I mentioned the Sea Chest? Because they are always a hot thing in the Trade Broker and their price has been over 1.500 gold for over a month now. It's easy gold when you get the victory. Sea Chests sell like crazy!
2. Boss drops in dungeons can be a good source of income, given that you sell them in the Trade Broker. Kalivan's Dreadnaught, Forsaken Island, Timescape and Dreadspire dungeons drop either Kalivan's Treasure Chest, Desolarus Treasure Chest or both, which can be sold for 400+ gold each. Other drops include Crystal Boxes and materials for Starfall gear such as Seconds of Timescape and Ghostly Seals, having a value of up to 650-700 gold for Seals and between 100 and 200 gold for Seconds. You need to understand that the more dungeons you do every day, the more chance you have of obtaining valuable things that can be sold at a good price. They may seem small at first glance but eventually they add up. I speak from experience as I easily reached 200.000 gold in a little over a month and a half.
3. Crafting. Everyone can craft and everyone can be a Master at one craft per character, meaning you can only be a Master in Alchemy on your favorite character while you decided to Master Etchings on your second one. Crafting can be a great gold income. People always need Ingots, Draught, Potions, Scrolls, Oils, Etchings or even Gear. Speaking from personal experience, the easiest craft is Alchemy, you gather all the materials from the three resource nodes in Val Oryn or Island of Dawn, Pilka Plants, Cobala Ore and Goblu Essence. The more difficult ones are the other three as they require material gathering from either critting on specific crafting designs or doing dungeons and getting materials from bosses, such as Inferno Ore, Dread Ore, etc.
NOTE: You can now obtain Inferno Ore and Dread Ore through Dawnstorm Tokens, you can get 20 a day by killing 10 Naga Battlemasters, 10 Onyx Hydraths and 10 Iron Giants, but know that Hydraths and Giants are difficult BAMs, so make sure you have that Complete Crystalbind active in case you die a few times.
Summary:
If you're somewhat active every day, meaning that you **** the 10 of the 3 highest BAMs, win a CS match and do 2 dungeons in the Normal/Intermediate difficulty, you are looking at 1465 gold if you do 2 Normal dungeons or even 1545 gold if you do 2 Intermediate dungeons, just from Vanguard Rewards. Adding to that you also sell your Sea Chest at the average price of 1.500 gold and 2 Kalivan/Desolarus Treasure Chests, getting a bonus 800 gold for those 2, you can get a minimum of 3.765 gold every day. That excludes drops such as Starfall equipment and items claimed with Ellon's Marks of Valor, which are Semi-Enigmatic scrolls, Complete Crystalbinds or Crystal Boxes.
Minimum: 3.765 gold a day
Can get up to 5.000+ gold a day
That means a week of doing those things can get you up to 35.000 gold and more.
You just need to be an active player, that is the key to being successful in Tera and any other mmorpg. Being active means having more options at being rich, well geared and just plain awesome.
This is my first guide and it's probably very poorly written, but I hope it helps give you some perspective that getting gold isn't as hard as it seems. You just need to be active, do things, gather things, **** things and you will be successful in this game.
